Left sided abdominal pain.
Patient Data
Focal consolidation is seen in the posterior basal segment of the left lower lobe. The consolidation has a rather circumscribed and spiculated appearance and is associated with rib and diaphragm invasion/involvement. No abdominal relevant abnormalities.
Chest images showing the mass to be speculated and associated with local lung reticulation with, apart the rib and diaphragm invasions, are also suspicious for malignancy.
Case Discussion
CT guided biopsy was performed and histology revealed:
MICROSCOPIC DESCRIPTION: Fibrous tissue containing a malignant infiltrate composed of polyhedral cells arranged in small solid nests. CK7 and P63 are positive. CK20. CDX2 and TTF1 are negative.
DIAGNOSIS: Left lung biopsy: Squamous cell carcinoma.
