Presentation
Facial trauma, right orbital pain and decreased right eye visual acuity.
Patient Data
Right eye cornea and uveo-scleral layer tear with preseptal and lacrimal gland soft tissue swelling are seen. The lens is visualised incompletely/poorly, presumably due to trauma and oedema.
Case Discussion
The case illustrates non-contrast MDCT features of ocular globe rupture. There is no obvious foreign body. The inability to visualise the native lens should not be immediately dismissed as being due to prior cataract surgery, but rather possibly indicative of lens trauma and oedema resulting in it being isoattenuating to surrounding vitreous humour 1. An ophthalmological review is required.
