Blow-out fracture in the right lamina papyracea. Substantial preseptal and postseptal-extraconal emphysema in the right orbit.
Case Discussion
At school, a friend cartwheeled and accidentally hit her in the eye with his foot. She left for home early that day but returned to school the morning after. When she sneezed, her right eyelid became dramatically swollen. She was taken to the pediatric ED. The CT showed a blow-out fracture of the lamina papyracea through which air was forced into the right orbit by the positive pressure exerted by the sneeze.
