Non-contrast head CT shows a minimally displaced left orbital floor fracture through which part of the inferior rectus muscle and intra-orbital fat has herniated into the left maxillary sinus. Multiple locules of air are seen in the subcutaneous tissue and left orbital cavity.

Case Discussion

Orbital trapdoor fracture is a type of orbital blowout fracture that is encountered in children. It occurs when the displaced fracture flap recoils back owing to the elastic nature of pediatric bone. Timely release of entrapped tissues is crucial in order to prevent permanent damage.
