Presentation
History of multiple myeloma.
Patient Data
A solitary lesion consisting of benign-appearing mature bone is seen in the right anterior ethmoid sinus, suggestive of an osteoma. The lesion invades the right orbit, medially displacing the medial rectus muscle.
Diffuse mucosal thickening of the visualised sinuses and bilateral maxillary antrostomy.
The visualised bones show mild diffusely decreased bone density with ground glass appearance, which could be consistent with known multiple myeloma.
Case Discussion
The osteoma in this case was incidentally identified. Solitary osteomas may also be seen in the skull or mandible, and may be the underlying cause of sinusitis or mucocoele formation within the paranasal sinuses.
Our case is of chronic sinusitis with an incidental osteoma.
