Pedunculated submucous uterine fibroid protruding into the vagina

Case contributed by Mina Sameh Rizk
Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Pelvic pain, vaginal bleeding and heaviness sensation.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

A large lobulated mass lesion is seen filling and expanding the endocervical canal and extending to the upper third of the vagina filling the lateral fornices more on the right side. It is connected to the anterior endometrial/myometrial junction by a pedicle. It displays low signal intensity on T2-weighted images and intermediate signal intensity on T1-weighted images. No diffusion restriction.

Case Discussion

The low T2 signal of the lesion suggests the possibility of pedunculated submucosal fibroid rather than endometrial polyp.
