Presentation

Motor vehicle accident.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
ct

No traumatic findings.

Cystic, unilocular, expansile lesion measuring 21 x 24 x 24 mm, issuing from the alveolar maxilla on the right, centered around the apex of a molar tooth with a root canal filling. The lesion balloons into the right maxillary sinus with a thin cortical margin and its inferior tip violates the outer maxillary cortex. Features favor a periapical cyst.

Case Discussion

Incidental unilocular cystic lesion growing from the apex of a tooth with deep restoration done on it - most probably, a periapical cyst. The patient has deep caries in several mandibular teeth as well.
