Presentation

Long standing history of gastrooesophageal reflux.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

Circumferential constriction at the distal oesophagus associated with hiatal hernia.

Case Discussion

A short segment of narrowing in the distal oesophagus above a hiatal hernia is present. This oesophageal peptic stricture could be mistaken for a Schatzki ring, but has a greater vertical height than a true lower oesophageal ring.
