Rudimentary coeliac artery with collaterals through gastroduodenal artery
Presentation
Examination for staging cancer - cancer of the endometrium.
Patient Data
CT Abdomen (selected images)
The findings were described on the next study.
Undefined coeliac trunk emerging from the abdominal aorta. Prominent network of tortuous and atheromatous collateral vessels is identified communicating the superior mesenteric artery to the coeliac trunk branches. Tortuous vessels around the second and third portion of the duodenum, corresponding to pancreaticoduodenal arteries. These vessels supply the gastroduodenal artery, in a retrograde manner.
Case Discussion
The most commonly collateral vessels that supply a stenotic or occlude coeliac artery are the pancreaticoduodenal arcades and the dorsal pancreatic artery 1.
