Screening mammogram.

Patient Data

Age: 63 years

MLO and CC views.

The composition of the breast tissue is heterogeneously dense.

Rim calcifications are demonstrated in the anterior third of the right breast.

The study was categorized as benign findings (BI-RADS 2).

Case Discussion

This type of calcifications is typically benign. If in doubt whether it is a round or rim calcification, look at the center of the calcification, rim calcifications will have a lucent center.
