The large bowel appears diffusely dilated and measures about 9 cm in maximum diameter at the sigmoid colon with evidence of twisted mesenteric vessels giving whirl sign seen at the left lower abdomen, surrounding multiple subcentimetric in short axis mesenteric lymph nodes, with gas still seen in the rectum, representing sigmoid volvulus, for surgical correlation.
