Presentation
Abdominal discomfort.
Patient Data
Well-encapsulated ovoid solid-cystic corporeo-caudal pancreatic mass measuring 48 x 45 x 30 mm. It elicits a low signal on T1 and high signal of the cystic component and low signal of the solid component on T2 and T2 FS sequences. The post-contrast sequences show a moderate heterogeneous enhancement of the solid component which is mainly of peripheral location. No intraperitoneal effusion or abdominal lymphadenopathy.
Case Discussion
MRI features of a well-encapsulated pancreatic solid-cystic mass in a young female suggestive of solid pseudopapillary tumours of the pancreas (Frantz tumour).
On imaging, the main differential diagnosis is the pancreatic serous cystadenoma , which is usually located in the head/uncinate process with a central scar and usually presents at a much older age (over 60 years).
