Presentation

Abdominal distension and pain in right upper quadrant a few days after cholecystectomy.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Female

A large, heterogenous area is noted involving the subcapsular region of the liver with resultant distortion of hepatic margins and laceration of the parenchyma. Evidence of active bleeding is seen.

A pseudoaneurysm of the right hepatic artery is seen.

Surgical changes are noted in the anterior abdominal wall.

Right-sided pleural effusion is noted.

Case Discussion

CT features are of large subcapsular hepatic hematoma along with evidence of hepatic laceration as described above.
