Numerous tiny nodules, predominantly centrilobular in distribution, are seen throughout the lung parenchyma with no zonal preference.
Case Discussion
The absolute eosinophil count (AEC) of this patient was increased (35,800 cells/mm3 ) and the serum IgE level was high (825 IU/mL). In view of clinical history, imaging findings, increased AEC and high IgE level the probable diagnosis of tropical pulmonary eosinophilia was made. Treatment was started with DEC (diethylcarbamazine). After six weeks of treatment, all symptoms had resolved.
