Presentation
5 days of PV bleeding and 2 days of lower abdominal pain, now in right iliac fossa.
Patient Data
CT images demonstrating enlarged uterus, no other abdominal abnormalities identified.
The uterus is diffusely enlarged and demonstrates a heterogenous myometrium with multiple small hyperechoic foci, some of them with a "Venetian blind" appearance, in particular within the uterine posterior wall. The transition between the endometrium and myometrium is not clear with the suggestion of a possible echogenic mass. Both ovaries were not identified. No evidence of abnormal amount of free fluid.
Case Discussion
The imaging features, in particular the ultrasound ones, are suspicious for uterine adenomyosis.
Gynaecological review was recommended but, unfortunately, no feedback from this case was obtained.
