Presentation

Left flank pain and palpable mass on physical exam.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

A 204×154 mm heterodense mass is seen at left adrenal lodge which contains a few calcified foci. The mass displaces the left kidney inferiorly.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent left adrenal mass resection, and histopathology evaluation confirmed adrenal cortical carcinoma, a rare and highly malignant neoplasm that may present active or inactive hormonally.

On CT images, adrenal cortical carcinoma usually tends to be large with an irregular shape, necrosis and hemorrhage areas, and foci of calcification that may be seen in up to 30% of cases.
