Irregular thickening of the bladder wall associated with a right ureteral obstruction and hydronephrosis on this side. Signs of a possible extension to the space of Retzius.

Case Discussion

Squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder is rare, and accounts for only ~ 3 - 8% of all bladder cancers (90% are transitional cell carcinomas) but nevertheless the commonest type of non-transitional cell carcinoma involving the bladder. It is also known as bladder epidermoid carcinoma.

This patient had a cystoscopy and histological confirmation performed in a different hospital, SCC was confirmed.
