Presentation

Antenatal diagnosis of Dandy Walker malformation.

Patient Data

Age: Neonate
Gender: Unknown

There is an enlarged posterior fossa with a large CSF cystic space communicating with the 4th ventricle. The vermis is not identified and suspected to be absent or hypoplastic. There is high attachment of the tentorium. The anterior and mid-body of corpus callosum are present. Findings are most consistent with a Dandy-Walker malformation.

The posterior fossa is enlarged with high attachment of tentorium. The cerebellar vermis is hypoplastic and rotated anti-clockwise. The fourth ventricle communicates freely with an enlarged fluid-filled posterior fossa.

There is partial agenesis of the corpus callosum.

Case Discussion

Both MRI and ultrasound findings are in keeping with Dandy Walker malformation.
