Presentation

Fatigue and acute shortness of breath.

Patient Data

Age: 10 years
Gender: Female

Enlarged cardiac silhouette, thickened horizontal fissure (fluid within) and bilateral symmetrical and mainly central air space opacity. Features of cardiac pulmonary oedema. 

Case Discussion

Dilated cardiomyopathy with pulmonary oedema. There is pleural fluid within the horizontal fissure. Note the markedly distended azygos vein due to raised central venous pressure.
