Enchondroma - distal femur

Diagnosis probable

Presentation

Chronic pain of the left knee. History of a fracture of the lateral tibial plateau 5 years ago.

Patient Data

Age: 50 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

There is a central intramedullary chondroid calcification (2.3 x 1.8 x 1.6 cm) with lobulated well-defined margin of the distal femoral diaphysis. No associated cortical destruction, endosteal scalloping, periosteal reaction, or adjacent soft tissue mass. 

No other bone lesion or joint effusion.

     

    Case Discussion

    According to the patient, this lesion already visible on the radiographs taken 5 years earlier which favors an enchondroma (incidental finding in this case).
