Schmorl nodes

Incidental schmorl nodes are noted at the inferior endplates of L2, L3 and L4.

Case Discussion

Schmörl nodes (often spelled Schmorl nodes, because let's face it, how many of us know how to get an umlaut over an ’o’) refer to protrusions of the cartilage of the intervertebral disc through the vertebral body endplate and into the adjacent vertebra.
