28 year old male on long term dialysis. Abnormal bone profile non responsible to medication.

1.7cm well defined hypervascular low echogenicity nodule inferior to the lower pole of the left lobe of the thyroid gland.
Thyroid gland normal.
Secondary hyperparathyroidism is a recognised complication of long standing renal failure - in this case a dialysis dependent patient for many years.
The parathyroid glands becomes enlarged due to hypertrophy.
