Snapped retained ureteric stent

Presentation

Patient had difficult ureteroscopy yesterday with retained portion of stent. Approximately 5cm retained portion. New stent inserted on left. Patient with severe left sided tenderness today and tachycardic ?ureteric injury

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male

Successfully positioned left ureteric stent.

Additional 5 cm segment of 'snapped' retained stent in the distal left ureter (best appreciated on the saved volume rendered images).

No contrast extravasation to suggest a ureteric leak.

Multiple stones in all poles of the left kidney measuring up to 7 mm. 1 mm stone in the upper pole of the right kidney.

Inflammatory change around the left renal pelvis and ureter. No perinephric collection.

 Fatty liver.

 Minor consolidation at the lung bases.

 Comment:  

  1. segment of retained distal left ureteric stent

  2. no ureteric injury
