Presentation

Pain and swelling of left palm near the thumb. History of wooden splinter injury at the site of tenderness in palm.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

Irregular thick walled hypoechoic abscess with retained foreign body (wooden splinter). Additional ill defined hypoechoic area proximal to the abscess likely represents additional developing abscess. No intrinsic color flow identified in both lesions. Adjacent soft tissue edema seen.
