Positive PCL line sign

Last revised by Henry Knipe on 5 Aug 2018

The positive PCL line sign is an indirect sign of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear based on secondary changes of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) on MRI images. A line tangent to the upper border of the PCL should normally intersect the medullary cavity of the distal femur, if it does not, it is suggestive of an ACL tear.
