Presentation

Dyspnea and thoracic pain that worsens with activity.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

The posteroanterior projection shows a large mass extending laterally from the left side of the mediastinum. Its location in the anterior mediastinum is confirmed on the lateral projection.

Voluminous, well-marginated and mainly cystic anterior mediastinal mass, with thick septation and small foci of calcification. The mass causes mass effect on the pulmonary trunk and the left main pulmonary artery, without signs of invasion.

ultrasound

The ultrasound findings correlate with the CT findings, showing a heterogeneous cystic mass, with thick septation and small calcifications.

Case Discussion

The histopathology confirmed the diagnosis of mature cystic teratoma.
