The supinator muscle is, as its name suggests, a supinator of the forearm. It is located in the deep layer of the posterior compartment of the forearm and together with brachialis, forms the floor of the cubital fossa.
Summary
- origin: posterior proximal shaft of ulna; lateral epicondyle of humerus
- insertion: lateral proximal shaft of the radius
- innervation: posterior interosseous nerve (C7 and C8), a continuation of the deep branch of the radial nerve (C7, C8)
- action: supination of the forearm
