The urethra is the terminal segment of the genitourinary system. Because of vastly different anatomy between the sexes, male and female urethras are discussed separately:
NB: At present (2020) there is no standardized universal terminology for the post-operative urethral anatomy in transmasculine patients who have undergone metoidioplasty or phalloplasty 1.
