Herringbone artifact

Herringbone artifact, also called as crisscross artifact or corduroy artifact, is an MRI artifact, it appears as a fabric of herring bone. The artefact is scattered all over the image in a single slice or multiple slices.

Causes

  • electromagnetic spikes by gradient coils
  • fluctuating power supply
  • RF pulse discrepancies
